Using Phentermine While Pregnant: Precautions

It is not established yet whether phentermine or brand name equivalent drugs are harmful to unborn babies or nursing infants. However, why take that chance?

Possible Dangers

Using Phentermine could possibly pass from the mother to the unborn fetus. This could cause similar developmental problems as when a pregnant mother drinks alcohol or uses excessive street drugs.

Similarly, health complications could occur if phentermine passed through breast milk. In that case, (even though this is not yet confirmed) you should tell your doctor you are pregnant before using this prescription drug.

Precautions

To ensure no harm to your unborn fetus or newborn infant, you should wait to use this drug. If you breastfeed, then you should not use this product until after your baby has been fully weaned.

The other option of course would just be to feed your baby formula or milk that is not from your breast if you are a new mother. However, most people agree that breastfeeding a baby is the way to go.

Therefore, if at all possible you should really consider all your options before considering phentermine. If the conditions are right though, this product could do you good if you are severely obese at serious health risk because of it.

Additional Concerns

Besides using phentermine or brand name equivalent while pregnant, it should not be used by people who have had a history of drug abuse or addiction. The reason why is because it is very easily habit-forming.

If you or someone in your household is addicted or has been addicted to any type of street drugs or prescription medication, it should be stored in a secure place. Either that or you should find a less-addictive formula for weight loss.
