Phentermine Usage Instructions

Phentermine is a drug that you should be very careful about using. For your own safety, please follow the dosage and usage guidelines that are given to you by your doctor. It will provide you with the safest experience while using this medication.

Before taking phentermine, you may be told any one of a number of instructions. Some of the most important ones are indicated as follows:

  • It should not be taken in a larger dosage that given to you. Otherwise, you could go into hypertensive shock or maybe be nervous all the time or unable to sleep-among other things.
  • Taking it properly without alcohol or other harmful substances will decrease chance of side effects. If you notice extreme dizziness, nausea, insomnia, impotence, or any other problems you do not normally have after taking it inform your doctor immediately.
  • You probably will be told to take phentermine on an empty stomach. Before breakfast is the ideal time. About 10 to 14 hours before bedtime is another great time to take it.
  • It is also important to remember you should not break open, crush, or chew the tablet. You should also not break open an extend-release capsule. It is only meant to be swallowed whole and distributed into your body slowly!
  • Usually phentermine is only recommended for short-term use. Typically, a doctor will tell you to take it only for a few weeks. Beware of becoming addicted to this prescription.
  • You may not be administered this drug if you have had a history of drug abuse. This is for your own good, because you would be more prone to making it a habit if you are a former or current addict.
  • Do not suddenly discontinue use of this medication. Remain under the care of your doctor who will wean you slowly off it. Usually this is done while a professional gradually decreases your dosage.
  • When not using this medication, it should be stored out of direct sunlight or not near a heat source. Furthermore, do not let the contents come in contact with moisture.
  • If you miss a dose do not take a double dose thinking you can  make up for it. Just take the next one at your next regularly scheduled dosage time or as soon as you remember.
  • If you accidentally (or even intentionally) overdose-especially if you are experiencing a bad reaction call an emergency line immediately! You could die if you are not attended to while in shock from overdose.
